Director of the Library

About the role

The Northwestern University in Qatar (NU-Q) Library seeks an experienced leader to serve as Director. Reporting to the Associate Dean for Education, the Director will shape the library’s vision, support research, teaching, and media‑making, and champion a collaborative, user‑focused environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and direction for all library programs, services, collections, and initiatives.
• Oversee staffing processes, from recruitment and onboarding to performance evaluation and professional development.
• Develop and manage the library’s budget, ensuring efficient resource allocation and operational excellence.
• Foster partnerships with faculty, academic departments, and student support teams to enhance research and learning services.
• Lead the design and delivery of innovative reference, research support, and information resource services, both in‑person and online.
• Represent the library in campus leadership meetings and build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
