Duty Engineer – Hotel Facilities Maintenance

About the role

As a Duty Engineer you will be the technical backbone of the MGallery hotel, ensuring that all facilities, equipment and systems operate safely, efficiently and reliably. You will work closely with the engineering team and other hotel departments to maintain a comfortable environment for guests and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily engineering operations and respond promptly to maintenance requests.
• Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance of hotel facilities, equipment, and systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues to minimise disruption to hotel operations.
• Monitor electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC and other building systems.
• Conduct regular inspections and ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently.
• Coordinate maintenance requests, work orders and liaise with external contractors.
• Respond to emergencies and breakdowns, taking appropriate corrective action.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections and repairs.

Required profile

• Diploma or technical qualification in Engineering or a related field.
• Previous experience in a similar engineering role, preferably within a hotel or hospitality environment.
• Good knowledge of electrical, mechanical, HVAC, plumbing and building systems.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities.
• Proactive, reliable and safety‑conscious approach.
• Ability to work independently, under pressure and flexible to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.
