Fire and Gas Technician

About the role

Madre Integrated Engineering is looking for a Fire and Gas Technician in Doha, Qatar, within its oil and gas business. The technician maintains and tests fire detection, gas detection and alarm systems, keeping them reliable and compliant with industry standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on fire and gas detection systems, detectors, alarms and associated safety devices.
• Inspect, test and calibrate flame detectors, gas detectors, heat/smoke detectors, manual call points, fire alarm panels and suppression systems.
• Troubleshoot faults, repair or replace defective equipment and restore system functionality.
• Support commissioning and loop-checking of new fire and gas systems during projects.
• Ensure compliance with OEM standards, client specifications and international codes such as NFPA and IEC.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, test reports and logbooks.
• Support shutdowns, emergencies and drills, and follow company HSE policies and permit-to-work procedures.
• Coordinate with supervisors, engineers and other disciplines to ensure system reliability.

Required profile

• Diploma or technical certificate in Instrumentation, Electrical or a related discipline.
• 5 years of experience maintaining fire and gas systems in oil and gas or petrochemical plants (Qatar/GCC experience preferred).
• Valid certifications in Fire & Gas systems, H2S, PTW and basic safety (an advantage).

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of fire alarm systems, suppression systems, gas detection systems and safety instrumentation.
• Familiarity with international standards (NFPA, IEC, BS) and basic knowledge of ATEX and other oil and gas norms.
• Proficiency in reading P&IDs, loop diagrams and wiring drawings.
• Good communication and reporting skills.
