Mechanical Trade Lead

About the role

The Mechanical Trade Lead is an experienced Mechanical Technician and Supervisor reporting to the Forward Deputy Maintenance Manager (FDMM) at BAE Systems Strategic Aerospace Services in Doha. The post holder must understand the approved data set well enough to supervise maintenance work in line with the organisation's regulatory framework, and must deputise for the FDMM and the Rectification Controllers during their absences.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day the mechanical manpower and equipment resources so that safe, serviceable aircraft are available for flying tasks
• Advise the FDMM of engineering or supply problems, and of practices or procedures that threaten safety or quality
• Ensure personnel are trained, authorised and kept up to date, and that shift handovers are completed via the Trade Diary
• Manage shift lists, leave planning and the submission of Mechanical TPRFs to keep the approved data accurate
• Maintain incident team cover during flying operations and oversee the quality of facilities, personnel standards and approved data use
• Act as the mechanical point of contact for internal and external agencies, and take direction from the FDMM
• Take part in strategic mechanical reviews, incident reporting, QA audits and the identification of airworthiness risks
• Ensure compliance with Part 145, the QAF governance framework, ITAR, EaPW and ISO requirements, and promote human factors, error management and risk management

Required profile

• Essential authorisations: Asset Manager, Co-ordinate Aircraft and MWOs, PMDS download/upload and arisings resolution, Independent Inspections, Tow Typhoon, and assessor for general and trade authorisations
• Engineering apprenticeship, ideally aeronautical or military equivalent; minimum City & Guilds 2675 or 2661 in Aeronautical Engineering and Maintenance
• Aircraft platform training (on an aircraft); minimum 2 years at supervisor level before this role
• Driving licence

• Typhoon Mechanical Trade 'Q' course or equivalent
• Human Factors, E&PW and ITAR awareness courses
• Broad, in-depth product knowledge and product knowledge of the aircraft platform
