General Technician - Oil & Gas

About the role

Madre Integrated Engineering is hiring a General Technician in Doha for its oil and gas business. The role covers routine maintenance and repair of rotating and stationary equipment, operational support for drilling and workover activities, strict adherence to safety procedures and accurate documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Maintenance and repair: perform routine preventive maintenance on rotating equipment (pumps, compressors, generators, turbines) and stationary equipment (valves, pipelines, pressure vessels); diagnose mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic failures; assist in overhaul and installation of new machinery; inspect for leaks, corrosion and unusual wear.
• Operational support: monitor control panels, gauges and instruments; maintain deck machinery and rig equipment for drilling and workover operations; isolate equipment (Lock-Out/Tag-Out) and help recommission after repairs.
• Safety and compliance: follow Permit to Work (PTW) systems and safety protocols; take part in toolbox talks, safety meetings and emergency drills; keep the work area clean and hazard-free; report near misses, unsafe conditions and environmental incidents.
• Documentation: complete maintenance logs, work orders and inspection reports accurately; track spare parts usage and help manage inventory.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; a technical or vocational diploma in mechanical or electrical engineering is highly preferred.
• Valid safety certifications such as BOSIET, OGUK or H2S awareness, depending on location.
• A trade certification (Millwright, Fitter, Electrician) is a strong advantage.
• 2-5 years of maintenance experience, preferably in oil and gas, petrochemical or heavy industry; remote or offshore experience is a plus.

Required skills

• Reading Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and technical manuals.
• Working knowledge of hand and power tools, precision measuring instruments and diagnostic equipment.
• Basic understanding of electrical systems, hydraulics and diesel engines.
