Head of Secondary

About the role

Etqan Global Academy (EGA) in Doha, Qatar, a newly established IB World School offering the Middle Years Programme (MYP), is seeking a dynamic Head of Secondary. The successful candidate will provide visionary leadership, drive academic excellence, and embed a culture of high aspiration and international‑mindedness across the secondary school.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership aligned with the IB MYP philosophy and EGA’s School Strategic Plan.
• Champion concept‑driven, inquiry‑based teaching and learning throughout the secondary curriculum.
• Lead, mentor and develop a high‑performing teaching team through coaching, appraisal and continuous professional development.
• Drive whole‑school improvement using data analysis, monitoring, evaluation and self‑review processes.
• Build strong relationships with students, parents and the wider school community.
• Collaborate with the Principal, MYP Coordinator and senior leadership team to implement the School Improvement Plan.
• Oversee student welfare, pastoral care and wellbeing across the secondary phase.
• Manage timetabling, curriculum planning and academic reporting for secondary.
• Promote student agency, the IB learner profile and international‑mindedness across all year groups.

Required profile

• Recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS or equivalent) and a relevant degree.
• Significant senior leadership experience in an IB school, with deep knowledge of the MYP.
• Proven track record of school improvement and raising student outcomes.
• Strong data literacy and ability to use assessment information to drive improvement.
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children.
• International school experience, preferably in the Middle East (desirable).
