Operation Support Manager – Base Maintenance

About the role

The Operation Support Manager – Base Maintenance leads continuous improvement across Heavy Maintenance within the MRO, driving efficiency, cost reduction and profitability while ensuring compliance with Part 145 requirements. The role works closely with internal Qatar Airways groups and external partners to embed Lean methodologies, digital tools and innovative solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the Continuous Improvement strategy for Heavy Maintenance aligned with operational and financial goals.
• Identify, prioritize and deliver high‑impact initiatives to reduce turnaround time, boost productivity and optimise costs.
• Implement Lean Six Sigma frameworks, waste elimination and standardisation across maintenance processes.
• Lead cross‑functional projects with Engineering, Planning, Supply Chain and Operations to enhance end‑to‑end MRO performance.
• Develop data analytics tools, dashboards and predictive analytics to improve visibility and decision‑making.
• Ensure all improvement activities comply with airworthiness, safety and regulatory standards.
• Build and coach a Continuous Improvement team, fostering a culture of structured problem‑solving.

Required profile

• Proven experience in leading continuous improvement programmes within an aviation MRO or heavy‑maintenance environment.
• Strong knowledge of Part 145 maintenance regulations and Lean Six Sigma principles.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, both internal (CAMO, Finance, Matar) and external (OEMs, MRO providers).
• Ability to develop business cases, validate ROI and track benefits.
