Senior Lifting Equipment Engineer

About the role

The Senior Lifting Equipment Engineer is based in Qatar and reports to the Engineering Manager or Operations Manager. The role oversees the inspection, operation, maintenance and certification of all lifting equipment in line with local regulations, international standards and company policy, ensuring safe and compliant lifting operations across projects.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily operation and maintenance of cranes, hoists, forklifts and other lifting equipment, including preventive and corrective maintenance schedules and fault diagnosis.
• Carry out periodic inspections and load tests, keep certification records up to date and liaise with third-party inspectors for statutory certifications.
• Ensure compliance with MME/UPDA regulations, QCS and standards such as LOLER, ASME and ISO, and implement accident-prevention measures.
• Prepare and update lifting plans, risk assessments and method statements.
• Support the selection, installation and commissioning of equipment and guide operators and rigging teams.
• Maintain maintenance, inspection and certification logs and report on equipment performance and incidents.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• MME/UPDA license (mandatory).
• Minimum 5 years of experience in lifting equipment operation, inspection and maintenance.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
