Vehicle Mechanic – Military & Commercial Vehicles

About the role

The Vehicle Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, repairing, maintaining, and servicing both military and commercial vehicles and equipment. Work is performed in compliance with USAF mandatory requirements, the Performance Work Statement, and Amentum ISO 9001 Quality Management System.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct Limited Technical Inspections (LTI) to diagnose malfunctions, determine repair scope, parts needed, and cost.
• Repair or replace components across engines, transmissions, steering, braking, clutches, torque converters, axle hubs, bearings, fuel, cooling, suspension, body, and hydraulic systems.
• Troubleshoot, calibrate, and test electrical systems, pumps, meters, injectors, distributors, and air‑conditioning units using diagrams, manuals, and specialized tools.
• Perform preventative maintenance such as oil changes, filter replacements, coolant top‑ups, belt adjustments, and lubrication.
• Complete maintenance documentation, including work orders, parts request sheets, and maintenance logs.
• Ensure compliance with safety, hazardous material, and quality standards; maintain tools and PPE in serviceable condition.
• Research parts using commercial manuals, technical orders, and parts catalogs.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum three years of vehicle mechanic experience.
• Intermediate English reading, writing, and speaking skills.
• Valid driver’s license from home country and ability to obtain host‑nation license.
• Physical ability to lift/push/pull at least 50 lb and work outdoors in noisy environments.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
