Assistant Director of Finance

About the role

The Assistant Director of Finance supports the Director of Finance in leading the hotel’s finance department, ensuring accurate accounting, compliance and profitability. This senior middle‑management position acts as the second‑in‑command and will take full responsibility for the department when the Director is absent.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise daily operations of the accounting team, conduct performance reviews and support professional development.
• Lead month‑end and year‑end closing processes, produce financial statements, balance‑sheet reconciliations and variance analyses.
• Prepare annual operating and capital budgets, rolling forecasts and manage cash‑flow, bank reconciliations and foreign‑exchange exposure.
• Design and monitor internal controls, coordinate internal and external audits, and ensure compliance with USALI, local tax regulations and corporate policies.
• Oversee accounts receivable aging, credit policies and support collection efforts; manage accounts payable schedules to optimise payment terms.
• Represent the finance function in Executive Committee meetings and owner interactions when required.

Required profile

• Significant experience in hotel finance or a comparable hospitality environment, preferably at a senior supervisory level.
• Proven ability to manage a large accounting team and to act as a reliable deputy to senior finance leadership.
• Strong understanding of USALI, regional tax compliance (VAT/GST, corporate tax) and audit processes.
• Demonstrated track record of delivering accurate financial reporting, budgeting and cash‑flow management.

Required skills

• Expertise in general ledger accounting, financial reporting and month‑end close procedures.
• Knowledge of budgeting, forecasting and cash‑flow management techniques.
• Familiarity with internal control design, audit coordination and tax compliance requirements.
