Assistant Manager – Operations, Shipping Agency

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Manager to lead daily shipping agency operations, ensuring safe and efficient vessel handling at ports.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee vessel arrivals, berthing, cargo handling and departures.
• Liaise with port authorities, customs, terminal operators, shipping lines and vessel masters.
• Manage pre‑arrival arrangements, port clearances, regulatory documentation and operational requirements.
• Prepare and coordinate Proforma Disbursement Accounts (PDA) and related financial arrangements.
• Negotiate agency services, operational matters and charges with principals, charterers and port operators.
• Monitor cargo loading, discharging, stowage and vessel operations to minimise delays and claims.
• Coordinate crew changes, medical assistance and shore leave.
• Ensure compliance with port regulations, maritime requirements and HSSE standards.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Engineering, Maritime Studies or related field.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in shipping agency operations.
• Strong knowledge of vessel operations, port agency services and cargo handling.
• Good understanding of local and international maritime regulations and customs procedures.
• Proven ability to coordinate with shipping lines, vessel operators, principals and port authorities.
• Excellent negotiation, communication and problem‑solving skills.
• Fluent English with strong command of MS Office.
