Automation/DCS Technician

About the role

The Automation/DCS Technician is responsible for preventive maintenance, repair, overhaul and troubleshooting of distributed control systems and related safety and process equipment. The role requires independent execution of routine and non‑routine tasks while adhering to strict health, safety, quality and environmental standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform day‑to‑day maintenance and troubleshooting of DCS platforms (Honeywell TDC‑3000, Experion) and safety systems (Triconex, Siemens, HIMA, Honeywell).
• Maintain and service PLCs (Allen Bradley, Siemens, HIMA, Honeywell) and PDCS (Siemens) as well as gas turbine control systems (GE Mark VI, Vie).
• Execute routine and non‑routine maintenance activities independently under normal supervision, ensuring timely completion and quality compliance.
• Obtain cold‑work permits and conduct toolbox meetings to verify tool and safety equipment availability.
• Identify, report and mitigate equipment problems to prevent malfunctions.
• Provide guidance to contract‑hired manpower and lead teams during shutdowns.
• Maintain housekeeping standards and proper use of tools and equipment.

Required profile

• Minimum High School education with a 2‑year diploma in a relevant discipline.
• At least 5 years of direct experience in the fertilizer, petrochemical, chemical or oil & gas industry.
• Strong ability to work independently and within a team, with solid communication and problem‑solving skills.
• Experience with ammonia, urea, melamine, desalination and chemical processing plant maintenance.
• Knowledge of basic signal circuit design, data backup/restore procedures, and spare‑part selection processes.

• Basic signal circuit design and transmission system architecture.
• Data backup and disaster‑recovery procedures.
• Spare‑part management and selection procedures.
• Fire‑fighting equipment usage and Permit‑to‑Work (PTW) system knowledge.
