Category Manager (Watches, Jewellery & Sunglasses)

About the role

The Category Manager will lead the Watches, Jewellery and Sunglasses portfolio at Hamad International Airport, driving sales, profitability and brand partnerships for a diverse traveller base. You will combine buying, merchandising, pricing and promotional activities to maximise inventory turnover and meet commercial targets.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, motivate and direct a team of buyers to achieve sales and margin goals.
• Increase product volume and improve inventory turnover within the category.
• Build and maintain productive relationships with suppliers and engaging interactions with customers.
• Negotiate pricing, delivery and payment terms to maximise profit margins.
• Set competitive pricing, adjust as needed to stimulate sales and clear stagnant stock.
• Expand successful product lines and implement exit strategies for under‑performing items.
• Collaborate with retail and marketing teams to ensure effective product promotion.
• Review performance and financial results on a weekly/monthly basis.
• Conduct post‑promotion analysis to track sales and profit outcomes.
• Communicate merchandising plans, advertising schedules and price changes to stakeholders.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Purchasing or a related field.
• Minimum 8 years experience in travel retail, preferably in a strategic role within a large organisation.
• Proven track record of day‑to‑day stock management.
• Strong analytical, negotiation and communication abilities.
• Knowledge of sourcing, buying, product development and stock management; retail experience is a plus.
