Chief Electrician

About the role

The Chief Electrician is responsible for the operation, maintenance, inspection, testing and repair of all electrical and electronic equipment aboard a DP‑3 capable vessel. Working closely with the Chief Engineer and other technical personnel, the role ensures the reliability and safety of power generation and distribution systems.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain generators, switchboards, transformers, UPS, battery and emergency power supplies, including associated protection systems.
• Coordinate with the Chief Engineer, ETO/electrical staff and DPOs on maintenance or defects that could affect DP capability or vessel operations.
• Keep detailed maintenance logs, manage spare parts inventories and advise on replenishment needs.
• Verify that all company or client electrical equipment onboard is compatible with vessel supplies and complies with relevant regulations.
• Provide timely updates and reports to the E+I Superintendent and Operations Manager.

Required profile

• Extensive experience as a Chief Electrician on DP vessels.
• Holding BOSIET/FOET OPITO, H2S OPITO and DP Maintenance certificates.
• Strong commitment to health, safety and environmental standards, with ability to lead HSE initiatives.
