Commercial & Contracts Director – EPC/Oil & Gas

About the role

The Commercial & Contracts Director will lead the commercial, contractual and risk management functions for major EPC and oil & gas projects in Qatar. Reporting to senior leadership, you will protect the business’s commercial interests, drive profitability and oversee contract administration from bid to project close‑out.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement commercial strategies aligned with corporate objectives.
• Lead commercial governance, cost management and profitability monitoring across all projects.
• Oversee contract development, negotiation, administration and compliance with FIDIC and other standards.
• Direct claims preparation, assessment, negotiation and dispute resolution, coordinating with legal advisors.
• Lead tender evaluation, commercial risk assessment during bid preparation and support estimating teams.
• Monitor project cash flow, forecasting, budgeting and cost reporting; drive change and variation control.
• Manage and develop commercial, contracts, claims and quantity surveying teams, setting KPIs and mentoring staff.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Law or related field; Master’s or MBA is an advantage.
• Minimum 20 years experience in EPC, oil & gas or large construction projects, with at least 10 years in senior commercial leadership.
• Proven track record managing EPC contracts valued at USD 500 M+ and extensive experience with FIDIC contracts.
• Professional certifications such as MRICS, CCM, PMP or equivalent are preferred.
