About the role
The Commis Chef supports the senior cook in daily kitchen operations, handling basic food preparation, mise‑en‑place and maintaining strict hygiene standards.
Key responsibilities
- Co‑operate with the senior cook to produce food in the assigned section.
- Assist the senior cook in all duties to ensure efficient service.
- Collect required food items from stores and the butchery.
- Prepare mise‑en‑place according to the section head’s directions.
- Follow all hygiene and sanitation rules in the kitchen.
- Attend training sessions and keep records of new recipes and procedures.
- Maintain equipment in clean condition and ensure regular maintenance.
- Control food cost by minimizing waste while meeting quality standards.
