Data Lead - Smart City Platform

About the role

A Data Lead is needed to lead the Platform's data management, data science, data solutions development and data monetisation functions. The role manages, protects and processes the organisation's data, coordinates the Data Team and sets the data governance strategy across channels. It is a 1-year contract in the telecommunications sector, with a preference for European or UK nationality or bilingual candidates.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the collection, storage, management, quality and protection of data across the Platform.
• Develop and implement data policies and procedures, and set the data governance strategy for each channel.
• Lead data science initiatives, including predictive models and machine learning model development.
• Design data solutions for smart city applications and work with cross-functional teams to integrate them.
• Identify data monetisation opportunities and define a strategy that sanitises, elaborates and packages data.
• Ensure data is protected from unauthorised access and breaches, and coordinate data escalation, resolution and integration.
• Mentor internal data architects, engineers and scientists and external marketing and sales teams, and take responsibility for data integration for customer onboarding and data sharing agreements.
• Take part in Smart Qatar data governance forums and drive the evolution of data architecture and management.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field.
• Several years of experience in data governance, enterprise data management, business intelligence and advanced analytics, preferably in the ICT sector or smart city projects.
• Experience leading data teams and managing data projects.
• Excellent English (Arabic is an advantage).

Required skills

• Big data engineering, cloud data platforms (Azure preferred), ML/AI, data architecture and data governance (MDM, data quality, data security, data integration).
• Data processing with SQL, NoSQL and big data; applied mathematics and statistics; reporting and visualisation tools.
• Preferred tools: Azure Data Services, Python/R, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Power BI, Tableau, Informatica, Collibra, Purview, Azure Security Center and Azure Key Vault.
