Deputy Headteacher - Student Innovation and Futures

About the role

GEMS Wellington School Qatar, a British curriculum international school in Doha, is looking for a Deputy Headteacher for Student Innovation and Futures. The post sits on the Executive Leadership Team and reports to the Principal, working closely with the two Vice Principals. It leads a technology-enabled vision for teaching, learning and student development, covering careers education, student pathways, global skills and alumni engagement, and lines manages the Assistant Headteacher – Head of Sixth Form.

Key responsibilities

• Digital strategy: lead the GEMS Digital and AI Strategy, develop and review the Digital Usage and AI Policy, integrate digital tools in teaching and learning, promote digital fluency and lead staff professional development.
• Futures and pathways: lead and quality assure the CEIAG programme, oversee work experience and internships, and support university guidance and post-18 pathways.
• Sixth Form: line manage the Assistant Headteacher – Head of Sixth Form and align Sixth Form provision with the futures strategy.
• Global skills and enrichment: oversee the Global Skills Project and EPQ, and engage with GEMS Genius, Global Academy and scholarship programmes.
• Alumni engagement: develop the GEMS for Life alumni programme to support mentoring and careers guidance.
• Character development: lead the Determined Genius character education programme.
• Leadership: lead cross-school initiatives, develop partnerships with universities and industry, monitor and evaluate the impact of innovation and futures programmes, and contribute to whole-school improvement planning.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in a British or British international school.
• A passion for digital innovation and future-focused education.
• Strong strategic thinking and the ability to lead transformational change.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills, with integrity, professionalism and emotional intelligence.
• A collaborative approach and commitment to continuous improvement.
