Electrical Engineer - Earthing and Lightning Protection

About the role

ECCO Gulf Majorel Qatar is hiring a full-time Electrical Engineer with at least 5 years of progressive experience, specializing in the design, installation, testing and commissioning of earthing (grounding) and lightning protection systems. The role covers high-rise buildings, substations, commercial developments and major infrastructure projects, and requires knowledge of Qatar regulatory requirements and international standards.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop earthing, grounding and lightning protection systems in line with project specifications and standards.
• Prepare and review technical drawings, layouts, calculations, specifications, method statements and material submittals.
• Carry out earthing calculations (earth resistance, soil resistivity, step and touch potential).
• Design and review lightning protection systems and surge protection solutions.
• Supervise installation, testing, inspection and commissioning, and prepare testing and commissioning reports and handover documents.
• Coordinate with consultants, contractors, clients, authorities and other engineering disciplines.
• Ensure compliance with KAHRAMAA, QCDD, IEC, IEEE and BS EN standards, and support site inspections, authority approvals and project meetings.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience, preferably in Qatar or the GCC.
• Demonstrated experience in earthing and lightning protection systems.
• Experience on high-rise buildings, substations, infrastructure, industrial or major commercial projects.
• Good understanding of electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, layouts and specifications.
• Experience with testing and commissioning procedures and electrical testing equipment.

Required skills

• Knowledge of KAHRAMAA and QCDD requirements.
• Standards: IEC 62305, IEEE 80/142, BS EN 62305.
• Proficiency in engineering design software; AutoCAD is preferred.
• Technical, analytical and problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and good communication skills.
