Electrical Technician Sub-AMP

About the role

The Electrical Technician Sub‑AMP provides expert technical guidance on Air Force‑owned electrical power production and distribution systems at Al Udeid Air Base, supporting the Air Force Contract Augmentation Program. The role combines subject‑matter expertise with hands‑on oversight of asset lifecycle management.

Key responsibilities

• Advise AMP Managers, Operations and Engineering Flights on investment decisions for electrical systems.
• Provide inputs on industrial control systems and guide Electrical Sub‑AMP and interior utility functions.
• Assist in developing FYDP+3 infrastructure plans and pre‑design work for new construction, renovations, and improvements.
• Interpret design calculations, produce layouts, drawings, and specifications that meet project standards.
• Manage a portfolio of power generation, distribution, substations, backup generators, lighting, grounding, and cathodic protection systems.
• Conduct arc‑flash analysis, relay coordination, and electrical system modeling.
• Perform construction inspections, quality‑control reviews, and submittal assessments beyond standard construction manager expertise.
• Support cost‑estimate development and schedule planning.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical systems management or related field.
• Strong knowledge of Air Force or military‑type electrical infrastructure.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
