English Teacher

About the role

Durham School for Girls (DSGD) is looking for an English teacher who will deliver high-quality, engaging lessons that meet the UK Teaching Standards and the school's MARK values, while respecting the cultural expectations of the Qatari Ministry of Education. The teacher is expected to maintain professional conduct, collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders, and support student well-being and high-performance learning.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver engaging lessons and develop a curriculum aligned with subject standards and assessment objectives
• Use appropriate technology and differentiate instruction to meet diverse learner needs
• Give timely, constructive feedback and track student progress with clear, quantifiable reports
• Foster an inclusive classroom, manage behaviour and support students' well-being, including safeguarding
• Communicate regularly with students, parents and colleagues, using the school portal and platforms such as email, iSams or CPOMS
• Take part in professional development, quality assurance and school events, and act as an ambassador for the school's values
• Keep the curriculum aligned with Qatari MOE ethics and culture

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in teaching from an accredited institution
• Postgraduate Certificate in Education
• Teaching certification for the Qatar MOE
• Subject on the MOE-approved list
• English is mandatory

• In-depth knowledge of school and assessment methods and up-to-date curriculum developments
• Effective teaching and learning theory applied to individual needs
• Computer literacy, including word processing and spreadsheets
• Communication, presentation, organization and teamwork skills
