Head of Performing Arts (Drama, Music and Dance)

About the role

GEMS Wellington School – Qatar, a British curriculum school in Doha, is seeking a Head of Performing Arts to lead and develop its Performing Arts faculty from August 2027. The role covers Drama, Music and Dance and includes leading high-profile professional partnerships such as West End Stage and Shakespeare & Co, which give students real-world performance experience.

Key responsibilities

• Strategically oversee and artistically lead the school's partnerships with West End Stage and Shakespeare & Co, and collaborate with regional and international professionals and partner Wellington schools in Dubai
• Lead and inspire teachers of Drama, Music and Dance
• Direct and oversee showcases, productions and school musicals
• Organise and lead professional residencies, workshops and performance opportunities
• Champion Performing Arts within the school and the wider community

Required profile

• Recognised teaching qualification such as a B.Ed, PGCE with QTS or equivalent, specialising in Performing Arts
• Proven leadership experience teaching Performing Arts at GCSE and A Level
• Ideally a minimum of 2 years' teaching experience
• Experience working with professional artists, companies and industry partners
• Ability to work under pressure, support an inclusive environment and be committed to the school's Teach Like a GEM pedagogy
