General Technician - Hotel Maintenance

About the role

A full-time, non-management General Technician position in the Engineering & Facilities category at an Autograph Collection hotel in Al Shahaniya, Doha, Qatar. The technician responds to guest repair requests, carries out preventive maintenance and basic repairs, and keeps the property running smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to and resolve guest repair requests, communicating clearly with guests and customers.
• Perform preventive maintenance on tools, kitchen and mechanical room equipment, including cleaning and lubrication, and visually inspect tools, equipment and machines.
• Carry equipment such as tools and radios, and identify, locate and operate shut-off valves and utility shut-offs.
• Maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies.
• Report daily activities and problems to other shifts through approved communication channels.
• Perform surface preparation, painting, minor drywall and wood trim repair, and replace light bulbs and A/C filters, then clean up the work area.
• Test, troubleshoot and repair equipment, plumbing (plunge toilets, unclog drains), electrical components, lamps, extension cords, vacuum cleaners, internet devices, and replace switches and outlets.
• Program TVs, perform general housekeeping and engineering-related inventory duties, and use the Lockout/Tagout system before maintenance work.
• Repair interior and exterior landscaping and sprinkler systems.
• Input air handler schedules and make temperature changes on a computer.
• Welcome guests, assist people with disabilities, and follow safety, security and company policies.

Required profile

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent preferred.
• Some experience in general maintenance, surface preparation and painting preferred.
• Experience in hotel engineering or maintenance is a plus.
• No supervisory experience required.
• Driver's license required.

Required skills

• Basic knowledge or ability to learn air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems, carpentry, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation and building basics.
• Basic computer skills, including entering air handler schedules.
