Head of Ammonia Production

About the role

The Head of Ammonia will lead the ammonia production plant, overseeing multiple shift and team leaders. The role focuses on meeting operational targets, optimizing processes, and ensuring safe, cost‑effective production while acting as incident commander during emergencies.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, lead and manage operations teams to achieve production targets and cost efficiency.
• Provide senior management with regular updates on plant performance and production progress.
• Develop, approve and monitor production and expenditure budgets, ensuring effective cost control.
• Define organization structures, staffing levels and resource requirements to meet targets.
• Coordinate short‑ and medium‑term plant operations with maintenance to minimise downtime.
• Review and approve new or enhanced plant procedures to improve effectiveness.
• Maintain relationships with equipment suppliers and licensors to stay informed of technological developments.
• Provide technical expertise for diagnosing and troubleshooting complex process issues.
• Train, develop and appraise plant staff to maximise their contribution.
• Act as incident commander during emergencies and lead subsequent investigations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in ammonia or chemical plant operations.
• Proven track record of leading large‑scale production teams and managing budgets.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work under pressure.
