Head of Planning

About the role

Airswift is looking for a Head of Planning to lead project planning and scheduling activities for a major oil & gas client in Qatar. The role ensures that all planning processes are executed efficiently, supporting timely project delivery and risk‑aware decision making.

Key responsibilities

• Define and enforce planning and scheduling procedures, guidelines, and flow‑charts aligned with project requirements.
• Lead the planning/scheduling team and coordinate inputs from engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning functions.
• Supervise schedule development, control, analysis, and provide recommendations for improvement.
• Ensure contractors and subcontractors implement effective planning and scheduling measures.
• Manage preparation and delivery of project controls gate deliverables, especially planning and scheduling outputs.
• Maintain and update the Project Planning & Scheduling procedure.
• Collect, consolidate, analyze, and report progress and trend data to support management decisions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Engineering, Business, Project Management, etc.).
• Minimum 10 years of business planning experience, including at least 6 years in the oil & gas sector.
• At least 2 years in a supervisory or oversight role.
• Experience on major EPC lump‑sum projects from an owner/contractor perspective.
• Proven ability to work with multicultural teams and large local subcontractors.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency with Primavera scheduling software.
• Experience using schedule risk analysis tools such as Acumen and Primavera Risk Analysis.
