Kitchen and Laundry Technician

About the role

The Kitchen and Laundry Technician responds to guest repair requests and resolves maintenance issues with guests and customers. The role covers preventive maintenance of tools and kitchen and mechanical room equipment, basic repairs and upkeep of guest rooms and facilities, and reporting daily activities and problems to other shifts.

Key responsibilities

• Attend to guest repair requests and communicate with guests and customers to resolve maintenance issues
• Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment, including cleaning and lubrication, and visually inspect tools, equipment and machines
• Carry equipment such as tools and radios, and identify, locate and operate shut-off valves and utility shut-offs
• Maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies
• Communicate each day's activities and problems to other shifts using approved communication programs and standards
• Perform surface preparation, painting, minor drywall and wood trim repair, and replace light bulbs and A/C filters, then clean up the work area
• Test, troubleshoot and repair equipment, plumbing (plunge toilets, unclog drains), electrical components, lamps, extension cords, vacuum cleaners, internet devices, and replace switches and outlets
• Program TVs, perform general housekeeping and engineering-related inventory duties
• Use the Lockout/Tagout system before any maintenance work
• Repair interior and exterior landscaping and sprinkler systems
• Enter air handler schedules and make temperature changes on a computer
• Welcome guests, assist individuals with disabilities, and follow safety, security and company policies

Required profile

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
• Some experience in general maintenance, exterior and interior surface preparation and painting
• Hotel engineering or maintenance experience is a plus
• No supervisory experience required
• Driver's license

Required skills

• Basic knowledge or ability to learn air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems, carpentry and kitchen equipment
• Basic computer skills, including inputting air handler schedules
