Lead/Senior SharePoint Developer

About the role

BAE Systems Strategic Aerospace Services is looking for a Lead/Senior SharePoint Developer with 6+ years of experience in SharePoint 2019 (on-premises) and SharePoint Online to lead the technical architecture, backend integration, migration and deployment of its custom "Connect 22" intranet portal. The role centres on migrating legacy SharePoint 2019 content to SharePoint Online and building a headless CMS with SPFx Web Parts.

Key responsibilities

• Migrate the legacy SharePoint 2019 environment to SharePoint Online, mapping news archives, corporate stories, documents, lists, site collections and permissions to the new modern design.
• Audit the existing SharePoint 2019 environment and define the modern site structure, site collections and metadata taxonomy in SharePoint Online.
• Establish secure, read-only integrations with ERP and K2 systems via REST APIs, JSON endpoints or secure database views, using token authentication and API key management.
• Rebuild legacy SharePoint 2019 workflows into secure Power Automate cloud flows.
• Wrap modular React components into SPFx Web Parts (v1.19+) deployed to the SharePoint Online App Catalog.
• Build in-webpart CRUD controls using Fluent UI Panels so authorised users can add, edit and delete list items and upload media.
• Design list schemas, custom columns and document libraries, and write data-fetching code with PnP JS and Microsoft Graph APIs.
• Parse flat SharePoint list data hierarchically to create components such as organisational charts.

Required profile

• 6+ years of hands-on SharePoint 2019 and SharePoint Online / SPFx development.
• Proven track record of leading complex migrations from on-premises SharePoint to SharePoint Online.
• Expert experience rebuilding legacy SharePoint workflows in Power Automate.
• Experience consuming data from external REST APIs, JSON services or SQL databases in SPFx web parts.
• Strong understanding of API security, including OAuth 2.0 and bearer tokens.
