Learning Assistant for Preschool

About the role

The Preschool Teacher Assistant supports the lead teacher in creating a safe, nurturing, and stimulating learning environment for young children. The role involves assisting with classroom management, preparing instructional materials, and promoting positive development.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the lead teacher in implementing daily lesson plans and educational games aligned with the curriculum.
• Supervise children during classroom activities, playtime, meals, and outdoor play to ensure safety and positive behavior.
• Reinforce classroom rules and guide children in developing social and emotional skills.
• Prepare and organize learning materials, resources, and displays to support hands‑on learning.
• Maintain a clean, hazard‑free environment and assist with sanitising toys and equipment.
• Provide one‑on‑one or small‑group support for children needing extra help or emotional assistance.
• Observe children’s development and communicate progress or concerns to the lead teacher.
• Help children with daily routines such as arrivals, departures, toileting, meals, and rest time.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or equivalent (required).
• Prior experience working with young children in an educational or care setting (preferred).
• Patience, empathy, strong communication, teamwork, observation, creativity, organizational skills, adaptability, and cultural sensitivity.
