Life Guard

About the role

The Life Guard is responsible for the safety and security of guests at the poolside in a hotel in Doha, Qatar. The role covers the beach and pool areas during posted business hours and requires an active certification as a lifeguard from a recognised international association.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure the safety of guests and employees in designated swimming areas during business hours, and respond to any emergency in the hotel swimming or pool area.
• Keep swimming areas clear of motorised boats, windsurfers and sea bikes, and keep swimmers and snorkelers away from boat tracks and hazardous areas.
• Make sure a rescue boat with an engine is available at all times.
• Set up safety equipment at the beach and pool: flotation devices, correct safety flags, a rescue surfboard and boat, and a First Aid kit; post business hours, pool depths, water and air temperatures and wind speed.
• Log windsurfers, sailing boats and sea bikes, their crew counts and movements, and monitor or organise rescues at sea.
• Ensure water sports and pool activities follow security rules, arrange temporary relief during breaks, and report and fix hazards immediately.
• Follow the Employee Handbook and fire, hygiene, health and safety policies, and perform other duties assigned by management.

Required profile

• Active lifeguard certification from a recognised international association.
• Proficiency in mouth-to-mouth artificial resuscitation and CPR.
• Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a similar position, preferably in a 5-star international hotel.
• College education.
• Commitment to professional values and integrity, and a guest-oriented approach.

Required skills

• Strong swimming ability.
• Good working knowledge of health club and swimming pool operations.
