Loss Prevention Engineer

About the role

Saipem is seeking a Loss Prevention Engineer to join its Offshore Engineering Department. You will work closely with the Lead Loss Prevention Engineer to ensure the safety and reliability of offshore oil & gas projects through design activities and technical documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Execute design activities and prepare safety and reliability documentation.
• Review and check interdisciplinary technical documents.
• Monitor scope of work, raise change notifications, and coordinate with project management and other discipline engineers.
• Prepare and validate deliverables such as loss‑prevention philosophy, fire‑protection design basis, hazardous‑area classification schedules, passive fire‑protection specifications, fire‑&‑gas detection system layouts, and safety‑equipment layout drawings.
• Perform hydraulic calculations for fire‑water networks and spray systems.
• Prepare specifications for firefighting, safety, and lifesaving equipment and review vendor documentation.
• Coordinate safety workshops and review third‑party safety studies.
• Liaise with drafting teams for drawing development.

Required profile

• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Safety or related engineering.
• 10–15 years of experience on oil & gas projects, preferably offshore wellhead or process platforms.
• Fluent English; additional languages are a plus.

Required skills

• Fire water network P&ID preparation.
• Hydraulic calculations for fire‑water systems.
• Fire protection design and passive fire‑protection specification.
• Hazardous‑area classification.
• Fire & gas detection system design.
• Familiarity with Qatar Energy, ADNOC, Shell, Aramco standards and international safety regulations.
