Machinist – Precision Specimen Preparation

About the role

Element is seeking a skilled Machinist to join its rapidly expanding operations team. The role focuses on preparing specimens for testing, performing a variety of machining tasks, and ensuring high‑quality results under direct supervision.

Key responsibilities

• Operate cutting equipment to prepare specimens according to customer specifications.
• Design, set up, and execute machining assignments while adhering to quality standards.
• Maintain equipment and schedule preventative maintenance.
• Gather and record dimensional data in line with quality‑assurance requirements.
• Mentor and train less‑experienced machinists, communicating technical processes effectively.

Required profile

• HS diploma or GED preferred; associate degree in a related testing, science, or mechanical field is a plus.
• 3‑6 years of experience in a machining shop environment.
• Strong understanding of specimen preparation, machining concepts, measuring instruments, and dimensional analysis.
• Working knowledge of laboratory and machine‑shop safety protocols.
• Physical ability to lift <50 lb frequently and >50 lb occasionally, and stand for long periods.
