Mechanical Engineer – Rotating Equipment Design

About the role

The Mechanical Engineer – Rotating Equipment Design will lead the design, development and technical support of rotating machinery and related packages for an existing industrial process plant. The role involves root‑cause analysis, engineering calculations and preparation of tender documents to deliver cost‑effective, high‑quality solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate project activities, liaising with stakeholders to meet objectives.
• Perform root‑cause analysis and complete process data sheets with detailed mechanical specifications.
• Conduct engineering calculations using approved software in accordance with relevant codes and standards.
• Prepare datasheets, specifications and RFQs; evaluate supplier proposals and compile bid tabulations.
• Select, size and cost equipment to satisfy process design and performance requirements.
• Develop and update engineering standards, incorporating lessons learned.
• Provide technical support for P&ID, 3‑D piping models and HAZOP reviews.
• Participate in design reviews, fabrication inspections and performance test evaluations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 10 years of experience as a Rotating/Package Mechanical Engineer, preferably in petrochemical, ammonia or urea plants.
• Strong knowledge of engineering codes and standards (ASME, API, ANSI, IEC, BS, EN).
• Hands‑on experience with steam turbines, compressors, gas turbines and pumps.
• Ability to mentor junior engineers and share technical knowledge.
