Mechanical Technician – Control Panel Fabrication

About the role

The Mechanical Technician will carry out all mechanical work required for the fabrication, assembly, and preparation of PLC and control panels. You will ensure that each panel meets technical drawings, safety standards, and quality requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Perform mechanical cut‑outs for operators, meters, push buttons, lamps, switches and other devices.
• Drill and prepare holes for cable glands, ventilation fans and accessories according to layout drawings.
• Install and assemble earth bus bars, guaranteeing proper earthing and bonding.
• Execute panel coupling, alignment and bolting for multi‑section panels.
• Mount mechanical accessories such as DIN rails, gland plates, cable ducts, hinges, locks and ventilation systems.
• Read and interpret GA drawings, panel layout drawings and mechanical assembly instructions.
• Maintain precision, neat finishing and proper deburring throughout all mechanical work.
• Follow safety procedures, use appropriate PPE and keep the workspace clean.

Required profile

• ITI/Diploma in Mechanical, Fitter or a related technical trade.
• 2‑5 years of hands‑on experience in control‑panel or switchgear panel fabrication.
• Understanding of earthing and grounding standards for control panels.
• Ability to work independently, follow instructions and contribute to a safe work environment.

Required skills

• Mechanical fabrication of control/PLC panels.
• Reading mechanical drawings and measuring accurately.
• Use of drilling machines, hole cutters, jigsaws, grinders and manual tools.
• Installation of earth bus bars and grounding systems.
• Panel coupling, alignment and mechanical integrity checks.
