Mechanical Technician - Oil & Gas

About the role

This Mechanical Technician performs preventive, corrective and breakdown maintenance on rotating and static equipment in continuously operating process plants. The role covers pumps, blowers, compressors, fans, turbines and their components, as well as valves, vessels, columns, heat exchangers and piping systems.

Key responsibilities

• Install, dismantle, overhaul and reinstall pumps, blowers, compressors, fans, turbines and associated mechanical components.
• Maintain valves, vessels, columns, heat exchangers and piping systems, including inspection and replacement of components.
• Diagnose mechanical faults, identify causes of equipment failure and carry out repairs independently.
• Interpret mechanical drawings, isometrics and equipment datasheets to check clearances, alignment and assembly requirements.
• Inspect completed work against standards, clean and store dismantled parts, and record maintenance activities in the CMMS.
• Use maintenance tools and lifting equipment safely, following HSEQ, permit-to-work, isolation and work-at-height requirements.

Required profile

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline through a 12+3-year education pathway.
• Minimum six years of hands-on mechanical maintenance experience in the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical or Fertilizer industry.
• Strong HSEQ track record and practical knowledge of safe isolation, maintenance tools and working at height.

Required skills

• Troubleshooting, overhauling and maintaining rotating and static mechanical equipment.
• Reading mechanical drawings, isometrics and datasheets, and working knowledge of CMMS.
