Media Relations and Public Affairs Manager

About the role

The Media Relations and Public Affairs Manager will enhance NU-Q’s visibility and reputation by leading media engagement, managing relationships with journalists and external stakeholders, and ensuring accurate dissemination of the university’s narratives.

Key responsibilities

• Execute media strategies aligned with NU-Q’s communication objectives.
• Maintain and coordinate relationships with journalists, editors, and media outlets regionally and internationally.
• Draft and distribute press releases, op‑eds, media kits, and official statements.
• Monitor media coverage, compile reports, and provide regular summaries to leadership.
• Coordinate press queries, interview requests, and media placements for senior leaders.
• Collaborate with the content team to produce consistent institutional storytelling.
• Prepare briefing materials, background research, and talking points for executives.
• Maintain media databases and tracking tools, ensuring adherence to editorial standards and brand guidelines.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations or a related field.
• 5–7 years of experience in media relations, preferably within higher education or a knowledge‑based sector.
• Proven track record of securing media coverage.
• Strong writing, editing, and communication abilities.
• Deep understanding of local, regional, and global media landscapes.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities with attention to detail.
