Metallurgist – Laboratory & Field Testing (Doha)

About the role

Element is seeking a Metallurgist to support the Metallurgy Lab Manager in daily laboratory operations and field testing activities in Doha, Qatar. The role combines hands‑on testing, failure analysis, and coordination with clients and third‑party witnesses.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure laboratory work complies with ISO 17025 requirements.
• Perform metallurgical failure analysis on ferrous and non‑ferrous components and produce detailed investigation reports.
• Conduct mechanical tests (tensile, impact, nick‑break, bend, macro examination, CTOD, etc.) in line with ASME, API, AWS and BS standards.
• Execute corrosion tests according to NACE standards and project specifications.
• Carry out metallographic examinations to assess grain size, cleanliness, phase percentages and overall microstructure.
• Coordinate testing details with clients and third‑party witnesses.
• Manage technicians to meet the planned schedule.
• Assist the department manager with additional activities supporting Element Technology’s annual targets and budget.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy or a related discipline.
• Minimum 7 years of laboratory experience in metallurgy testing.
• At least 5 years of experience in mechanical testing and failure analysis.
• Strong technical report writing and mathematical skills.
• Proven ability to operate metallurgical testing equipment safely in lab or industrial settings.
• Excellent organisational, team‑leading and communication abilities.
