Planning Engineer

About the role

The Planning Engineer supports project planning, scheduling, progress monitoring, and reporting for EPC Oil & Gas and Power Plant projects. You will develop and maintain Primavera P6 schedules, validate performance data, and produce planning reports to ensure effective project control and timely delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, update, and maintain project schedules in Primavera P6 according to approved WBS and coding structures.
• Assist the Lead Planner with Level 3 and Level 4 schedules, ensuring proper sequencing, logic links, and schedule integrity.
• Collect, review, and validate progress updates from engineering, procurement, construction, and subcontractors.
• Update actual dates, remaining durations, and forecast completion dates in Primavera P6.
• Monitor performance against baseline schedules, identify deviations, and flag potential risks.
• Prepare weekly/monthly progress reports, S‑curves, manpower histograms, productivity reports, and schedule dashboards.
• Perform critical path reviews, variance analysis, and support recovery planning.
• Coordinate with stakeholders to obtain schedule inputs and resolve data discrepancies.
• Provide planning data for cost control activities, including CPI/SPI analysis and forecasting.
• Maintain schedule documentation, baseline records, change logs, and reporting templates.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or related field.
• 3–6 years of experience in project planning and scheduling within EPC projects, preferably Oil & Gas, Pipeline, Petrochemical or Power Plant.
• Hands‑on experience with Primavera P6 for schedule development, baseline management and critical‑path analysis.
• Knowledge of project controls practices such as progress measurement, S‑curves, manpower histograms and schedule variance analysis.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Power BI for reporting and performance dashboards.
