Principal Project Engineer – Qatar

About the role

Wood is looking for a Principal Project Engineer to support the growth of its expanding business in Qatar. The role will involve delivering FEED, Pre‑FEED, brownfield and greenfield projects while ensuring safety, quality and cost targets are met.

Key responsibilities

• Execute project work according to the Project Execution Plan and Wood procedures, maintaining safety and quality standards.
• Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams, coordinating design, studies and deliverables across multiple locations.
• Develop and approve key documents such as Project Execution Plans, Basis of Design, design reviews and study reports.
• Manage project schedules, man‑hours, milestones and risk, ensuring delivery in the correct sequence.
• Act as the day‑to‑day client contact, chair technical review meetings and drive issue resolution.

Required profile

• Undergraduate engineering degree with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
• Registration on the Qatar Register of Engineers (Grade A or B) is desirable.
• Professional project‑management certification (e.g., PMP or APM) preferred.
• Strong commercial awareness and ability to interpret contracts and raise potential delays.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications for documentation, presentations and scheduling.
• Project management expertise, including PMP or APM methodologies.
• Experience with engineering scopes such as FEED, Pre‑FEED, brownfield and greenfield projects.
