Project Manager – Drainage Masterplan

About the role

The role involves managing a key integrated master‑planning project covering stormwater, drainage, flood alleviation, wastewater networks, treatment plants, pumping stations and recycled water. It requires data collection, strategy review, contract administration and extensive client liaison.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers and experts through the master‑planning process, integrating sewerage, surface water, groundwater and treated effluent.
• Provide day‑to‑day oversight of team leads and administer the contract, assessing client requests against scope and documenting commercial matters.
• Oversee large‑scale data collection from multiple stakeholders, review analysis for strategy and planning, and manage field investigations.
• Prepare updates to technical specifications, write final deliverables in coordination with engineering experts, and ensure compliance with Stantec quality systems.
• Conduct monthly commercial reviews, support cost estimates, manage variation orders and claims, and produce weekly, monthly and quarterly progress reports for the client.
• Identify project risks, develop mitigation plans, and maintain regular liaison with internal and external clients, including remote teams worldwide.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an internationally recognised university.
• Minimum 18 years of relevant work experience.
• Membership of an accredited Project Management institution and Chartered Engineer status.
• Extensive experience with wastewater infrastructure, recycled water, surface and groundwater systems, and master‑planning.
• Proven ability to evaluate technical and financial proposals and manage heavy workloads with attention to detail.
• Excellent written and spoken English and strong autonomous working capability.
