Public Relations Specialist - Qatarization

About the role

Hamad Bin Khalifa University is looking for a Public Relations Specialist focused on Qatarization. The role manages and maintains relations with media representatives so that the university receives optimal exposure in local and international media outlets.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in developing the university's public relations strategy in consultation with the PR manager.
• Help publish and distribute the events listings statement to appropriate media.
• Develop and implement practices and protocols so the university can respond to media inquiries quickly, accurately and agilely.
• Act as the university's point of contact for public relations queries, locally and internationally.
• Organize and oversee PR and protocol matters for university functions and events, including scheduling and logistics.
• Provide crisis management mitigation solutions and reports as needed.
• Prepare presentations for media briefings and other meetings, and conduct research and analysis of public opinion about HBKU.
• Build and maintain a network with government entities, universities and other industry stakeholders, and develop relationships with local and international media.
• Assist with other PR and internal communications tasks as requested by the PR manager.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and 2-5 years of relevant full-time work experience.
• Good understanding of cultural, local and international best practice for public relations.
• Understanding of HBKU's short- and long-term plans and vision, and the ability to identify opportunities and actions to support it.
• Knowledge of public relations activities, methods and tools used in educational institutions in a multi-cultural, international environment.
• Commitment and enthusiasm for HBKU's organizational vision and objectives.
• Arabic proficiency is an advantage.

Required skills

• Excellent writing skills, able to draft and edit reports and communications and articulate ideas clearly and concisely.
• Proficiency in MS Office applications.
