Senior Database Manager

About the role

The Group is seeking an experienced Senior Database Manager to lead its Database Management department. The successful candidate will ensure the delivery of secure, resilient, high‑performing and well‑governed database services across the Group and its subsidiaries.

Key responsibilities

• Own the database management operating model, set priorities, allocate work, define technical standards, procedures and service quality objectives.
• Lead and govern enterprise database platforms, primarily Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server, while ensuring operational capability for PostgreSQL and MongoDB.
• Govern Oracle Engineered Systems such as Exadata and Oracle Database Appliance, overseeing compute nodes, storage cells, and network switches within the rack environment.
• Ensure high availability, performance, backup, recovery, replication, clustering, failover and disaster‑recovery solutions meet approved RTO/RPO targets.
• Define and enforce security controls including least‑privilege access, privileged account management, encryption, auditing and periodic access reviews.
• Lead incident, problem and change management processes, ensuring root‑cause analysis, documentation and coordinated resolution across teams.
• Manage vendor relationships, contracts, licenses and maintain accurate asset inventories, architecture diagrams and service documentation.
• Develop team capabilities through training, mentoring and knowledge sharing to reduce single‑person dependencies.
