Senior Material Engineer

About the role

Parsons is seeking a Senior Material Engineer to join its team in Qatar, leading the review, approval, inspection and testing of construction materials for a major roads, infrastructure and drainage programme.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the consultant‑side materials engineering function and coordinate material review, approval, inspection and testing across work packages.
• Review contractor material submittals for compliance with approved vendor lists, contract specifications, drawings, standards and authority requirements.
• Coordinate and witness material sampling, laboratory testing, field testing, Factory Acceptance Testing and Site Acceptance Testing as required.
• Verify that inspections and tests are performed at specified frequencies and that results demonstrate conformity with contract requirements.
• Maintain material approval registers, testing schedules, inspection records and other documentation for reporting and handover.
• Identify non‑compliant materials or testing practices, recommend corrective actions and support the issuance and close‑out of NCRs and CARs.
• Provide specialist technical advice on material selection, acceptance criteria, test interpretation and corrective measures.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Materials Engineering or an equivalent discipline.
• More than 14 years of post‑graduate experience, including at least 7 years in a similar materials engineering role.
• Professional experience in the Middle East, preferably with an engineering consultant or Engineer’s Representative on major roads and drainage projects.
• Thorough knowledge of Qatar Construction Specifications, contract specifications and applicable project standards.
• Professional registration or chartered status preferred; MME engineering certification required.
• Fluent written and spoken English with strong technical reporting skills.
