Senior Oracle Solaris Engineer

About the role

KalSoft is seeking a Senior Oracle Solaris Engineer to operate, secure, and modernize Oracle Solaris and SPARC environments that support critical government systems in Doha, Qatar. The role involves day‑to‑day administration, patching, compliance, and leading upgrade or migration projects.

Key responsibilities

• Administer Oracle Solaris 10, 11.3, and 11.4 environments, including SRU patching and lifecycle management.
• Manage SPARC infrastructure (T/M‑series servers, Oracle VM Server for SPARC/LDoms, ILOM, firmware).
• Configure and support Solaris Zones, Kernel Zones, ZFS storage, SMF services, and IPS packaging.
• Operate high‑availability clusters using Oracle Solaris Cluster or Veritas InfoScale and support Oracle Database workloads.
• Assess end‑of‑support exposure and lead upgrades to Solaris 11.4 or migrations to Oracle Linux / RHEL.
• Harden systems against NIA Standard and client security baselines, remediate audit and vulnerability findings.
• Automate routine operations with Shell, Python, and Ansible; maintain runbooks and disaster‑recovery procedures.
• Provide L3 incident and problem management, including on‑call support for critical systems.

Required profile

• Minimum 5+ years of hands‑on Solaris administration in production enterprise environments.
• Strong experience with SPARC hardware and virtualization (LDoms).
• Proven delivery of at least one Solaris upgrade or Solaris‑to‑Linux migration project.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to work in enterprise production environments supporting critical systems.
• Preferred: Oracle Certified Associate/Professional – Oracle Solaris; RHEL (RHCSA/RHCE) or Oracle Linux certification; experience with Oracle Database on SPARC and Oracle Exadata/SuperCluster; telecom or banking back‑office experience in the GCC.
