Senior Project Specialist - MRO

About the role

The Senior Project Specialist leads the execution, monitoring, documentation and risk management of MRO Business Development projects, keeping progress tracked and updates regular so that targets and overall readiness are met. The role aligns with strategic objectives and delivers defined project outcomes, and also involves setting departmental objectives and supervising team members.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate project planning and execution, monitor progress, organise review meetings and resolve issues with internal teams and external stakeholders.
• Manage project financials, including budgeting, expense tracking and reporting.
• Develop business cases and justify investments, and drive the project roadmap aligned with MRO Business Development objectives.
• Ensure end-to-end execution of project plans across MRO functional areas, acting as central point of contact for stakeholder engagement.
• Secure buy-in from MRO leadership through regular updates and clear communication.
• Monitor compliance with project charters, SLAs and contractual obligations, and support invoicing, vendor management and payment tracking.
• Identify, assess and manage project risks, documenting risks, assumptions and constraints and escalating them when required.
• Govern and improve the MRO project management framework, including policies, tools, processes and governance forums, and promote best practices through training and adoption of standardised methodologies.
• Set department or team objectives and priorities, evaluate plans and procedures, and oversee and supervise employees, including recruitment, training, development and succession planning.

Required profile

• High school, vocational or diploma qualification (type depending on role) with at least 7 years of job-related experience, or a bachelor's degree or equivalent with at least 6 years of job-related experience.
• Project management experience.
• Experience working with diverse teams and stakeholders.

Required skills

• Proficiency in project management tools such as Microsoft Project and Clarizen.
