Senior Vice President - Strategy Development

About the role

QNB Group, Qatar's first Qatari-owned commercial bank and one of the largest in the Middle East and Africa, is hiring a Senior Vice President for Strategy Development. The incumbent leads the Strategy Development team within the Strategy and Business Development department, owning and executing the portfolio of strategy assignments for group-wide business and support divisions or countries, with minimal supervision. The role also supports Executive Management requests such as GCEO interviews, Board presentations and public documents.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the portfolio of group-wide strategy assignments (regional, country and business unit strategies) and integrate internal and external customer needs into them
• Develop and monitor KPIs for strategy projects and help lead the financial plan for each assignment
• Lead interactions with senior internal customers and country GMs, and support yearly business planning, performance management and strategic planning across the Group
• Set up projects in terms of scope, deliverables, timing and resources, and guide the Vice Principal Strategy Development on hypothesis formulation, market sizing, frameworks and recommendations
• Supervise the Strategy Development team, including HR matters, recruitment, performance management and training
• Review project and section performance regularly and recommend improvements
• Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory and internal compliance requirements (e.g., AML)

Required profile

• Superior knowledge of strategy and business development techniques, tools and methodologies, including strategic frameworks
• High-level knowledge of banking processes, regulations and operating practices
• Ability to bring significant leadership to the division, with effective controls and resources
• Strong relationships with related departments and units
