Specialist Pediatrician – Inpatient & Emergency

About the role

The Specialist Pediatrician provides comprehensive medical care to infants, children and adolescents across the Pediatric Inpatient Unit, general wards and Emergency Department at ApexHealth in Doha. The role involves assessment, diagnosis, treatment, stabilization and ongoing management of pediatric patients in accordance with MMCH policies and MoPH standards.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose and manage acute and general pediatric conditions presenting to the Emergency Department.
• Provide initial stabilization and emergency management of seriously ill children and coordinate escalation or transfer when higher‑level care is required.
• Determine patient disposition from the ER, including discharge, observation, admission or referral.
• Manage admitted pediatric patients through daily clinical assessment, treatment planning and follow‑up.
• Conduct regular ward rounds, review investigations, medications and treatment plans.
• Prescribe medications safely according to pediatric dosing standards and hospital policies.
• Participate in on‑call, evening, weekend and public‑holiday coverage as required.
• Collaborate with Emergency Medicine, Neonatology, nursing, pharmacy, radiology and laboratory teams.

Required profile

• Recognized medical degree (MBBS, MD or equivalent) and board certification in Pediatrics.
• Eligibility for licensing as a Specialist in Pediatrics with Qatar MoPH – DHP.
• Recent experience managing general pediatric inpatient and emergency cases.
• Current BLS certification; PALS/APLS or equivalent pediatric emergency certification strongly preferred.
• Good command of written and spoken English; Arabic is an advantage.
