Tower Crane Operator

About the role

A Tower Crane Operator controls heavy lifting equipment mounted on high vertical masts (tower cranes) to lift, move, and position heavy materials, machinery, and structural components across construction sites. They work closely with ground crews to ensure safe, precise site operations.

Key responsibilities

• Operate levers, foot pedals, and joysticks to hoist, swing, and maneuver heavy loads such as steel beams, concrete panels, and equipment into precise positions.
• Perform daily safety and mechanical inspections of crane components, cables, brakes, and hydraulic systems before operation.
• Calculate load weights, consult load charts, and stay within the crane’s rated lifting capacities.
• Maintain constant radio contact and follow visual hand signals from signal persons, riggers, and ground crews during lifts.
• Monitor wind speed, rain, and site conditions, halting operations when weather exceeds safe limits.
• Assist in the erection, climbing, and dismantling of the tower crane and log any technical faults.

Required profile

• Third‑party Assessment Certificate.
• High school diploma.
• Strong knowledge of crane load charts, rigging procedures, physics of balance, and site safety regulations.

• Load chart calculation and weight verification.
• Radio communication and hand‑signal coordination.
