Tundish Repair Technician

About the role

The Tundish Repair Technician is responsible for installing, demolishing, repairing and relining tundishes and related refractory‑lined equipment in a steelmaking environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform refractory installation, demolition, repair and relining of tundishes, covers, slag boxes, steel pots and other equipment according to approved drawings.
• Operate and maintain refractory machinery such as mixers, brick‑cutting machines, rammers, spray machines, continuous mixers, cranes and lifting accessories.
• Receive, clean, prepare and relocate new or used tundishes and ancillary equipment.
• Apply refractory bricks and castables, set mould templates, conduct vibration, drying and hot repair activities.
• Conduct routine cleaning, inspection and safe shutdown of tools and work areas after each job.
• Coordinate with production and maintenance teams, keep activity records and ensure proper shift handovers.

Required profile

• Technical Diploma in a relevant discipline.
• Minimum 3 years experience in a steelmaking plant, preferably in refractory maintenance or tundish preparation.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and understand basic plant/process parameters.
• Strong problem‑solving and communication skills, able to work independently and in a team under heat, dust and height conditions.
