Vice President - Economics

About the role

QNB Group, the largest bank in the Middle East and Africa, is looking for a Vice President Economics. The incumbent manages the research, analysis, market intelligence, coordination and finalisation of QNB economic reports, other monthly deliverables and ad hoc requests, and facilitates monitoring and reporting of economic developments in key international markets, competitive information and strategic opportunities.

Key responsibilities

• Shareholder and financial: manage the tools, data, statistical packages and research subscriptions used by Group Economics; prepare inputs for business and budget forecasts and macroeconomic forecasts across countries; implement KPIs and best practices for the Assistant Vice President Economic role; promote cost efficiency and productivity.
• Customer (internal and external): manage research products and investor relations activities related to macroeconomics; manage publications and thought leadership such as Country Economic Insight Reports, Weekly Economic Commentary, Qatar Monthly Monitor, Global Macro Updates and bespoke reports.
• Manage day-to-day business, including the economic sections of the Investment Management Committee, Asset and Liability Management Committee, Group Management Risk Committee and Ratings Report, in line with SLAs with internal units.
• Support recruitment, coach managers and associates on report generation, and pursue own professional development.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Market Research or equivalent; a Master's and Ph.D. in Economics from a top global university is an advantage.
• At least 10 years of experience in the economic department of a global financial institution, with managerial oversight of small teams and at least five years as an economist.
• Experience writing macroeconomic and research reports.
