Visiting Artist – Interdisciplinary Kinetic Imaging (Adjunct)

About the role

The Department of Kinetic Imaging at VCUarts Qatar is seeking a Visiting Artist to join the faculty as an adjunct instructor. The role involves teaching sophomore‑level studio and lecture courses that span video, imaging, spatial media, sound, interaction, computation, and game design, fostering an interdisciplinary, hands‑on learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Teach a 15‑credit load each academic year, typically 4‑5 studio courses covering video practices, animation, sound art, 3D computer art, creative code and electronics.
• Develop and deliver course content that integrates contemporary art, design, technology and emerging media.
• Support student learning through critiques, workshops, technical demonstrations, discussions and mentorship.
• Assist students in developing technical, conceptual and creative approaches to interdisciplinary media practice.
• Participate in departmental exhibitions, events, critiques, reviews and collaborative initiatives.
• Collaborate with faculty, staff and students on interdisciplinary projects and departmental development.
• Ensure safe and effective use of studio technologies, software and resources.
• Contribute to service activities and annual review processes.

Required profile

• Master’s degree or higher in a field related to one or more of the five Kinetic Imaging domains.
• Professional or teaching experience in video, imaging, spatial media, sound, interaction & computation, or game design.
• Experience working within interdisciplinary art and design contexts is preferred.
• Demonstrated creative practice and ability to mentor students.
